Cynthia is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner originally from El Paso, TX. Her educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology at Texas State University and her passion for patient care led to her Bachelor of Science in nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington. After working as an RN for 7 years, she returned to the University of Texas at Austin to earn her Master of Science in nursing.
Cynthia’s nursing career began in liver/kidney transplant at UT Southwestern in Dallas. When her daughters were school-aged she took a position as a school nurse in Southlake, TX while maintaining her position at UT Southwestern on weekends. Once the family moved back to the Austin area, she worked in the pediatric cardiovascular ICU at Dell Children’s.
Working in the CVICU sparked her passion for this population and pushed her to pursue an advanced practice nursing degree at the University of Texas at Austin. While in graduate school, Cynthia took a position as a school nurse at Lake Travis Middle School and decided to focus her pediatrics education on primary care with a special interest in preventative care and functional medicine.
Cynthia lives in the Lake Travis area with her husband of 17 years and daughters (an 11 year old and 9 year old twins). As a family, they love exploring everything outdoors in the beautiful Texas hill country and continue to make their way to visit all the Texas State and National Parks. The most recent adventure included visiting Big Bend National Park and hiking to the top of Emory’s Peak as a family!
