Get to know Cynthia

Cynthia is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner originally from El Paso, TX. Her educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at Texas State University, and her passion for patient care led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington. After working as an RN for 7 years, she returned to the University of Texas at Austin to earn her Master of Science in Nursing.

Cynthia’s nursing career commenced in liver/kidney transplant at UT Southwestern in Dallas. When her daughters reached school age, she took a position as a school nurse in Southlake, TX, while also maintaining her position at UT Southwestern on weekends. Once her family moved back to the Austin area, she transitioned to working in the pediatric cardiovascular ICU at Dell Children’s. Her experience in the CVICU ignited her passion for this patient population and motivated her to pursue an advanced practice nursing degree at the University of Texas at Austin.

While in graduate school, Cynthia took a position as a school nurse at Lake Travis Middle School and decided to focus her pediatric education on primary care, with a special interest in preventative care and functional medicine.

Cynthia lives in the Lake Travis area with her husband of 17 years and her daughters (an 11-year-old and 9-year-old twins). As a family, they love exploring the outdoors in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and continue to visit all the Texas State and National Parks. Their most recent adventure included a trip to Big Bend National Park, where they hiked to the top of Emory’s Peak as a family!
